Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
The search boxes on this site are run by outside services. A name, a date of birth, or any other term you enter there travels straight to that provider, which processes the query and sends back the results. Nothing you type into a search box is saved or logged by us.
Messages You Send
When you email us, we keep the message so we can write back. Your note stays inside our team. We do not hand it to anyone outside the organization unless the law requires it.
Data We Collect Automatically
Our servers record a few technical details each time a page loads. The list is short, and it is close to what most websites log:
- The IP address your device is using
- The browser you are on, along with its version
- Your operating system and the kind of device
- Which pages you opened and how long each one stayed on screen
- The site that referred you, if one did
- A timestamp for every page view
Cookies and Analytics
Small files called cookies are placed on your device so we can see how the site is used, which pages draw the most visits, and where readers lose interest. Analytics services help us fold that traffic into totals. You can block cookies in your browser at any time. Blocking them may change how parts of the site behave.
How We Use What We Collect
Everything we gather goes toward running this site and making it easier to use. In plain terms, that means:
- Keeping pages online and loading quickly
- Sending your query to the right partner service
- Learning which pages readers find useful and which need work
- Spotting and fixing technical problems
- Serving ads that may relate to your interests
No Warrant Records Are Stored Here
This site does not host, build, compile, or sell any database of warrants or personal warrant information. What we publish is general guidance about where Lapeer County warrant records are kept and how to check them through the issuing courts, the Lapeer County Sheriff's Office, and state systems. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and nothing we learn about visitors is turned into consumer reports or files about other people.
Search Partners and Their Policies
Outside companies power the search boxes on this site. Anything you enter into one of those boxes is handled under that partner's privacy policy, not this one. Their retention rules and sharing practices are theirs to set, and we have no say over them. They are worth reading before you submit a search.
Links That Leave This Site
We link out to sheriff's office pages, court portals, state systems, legal aid groups, and third-party search tools. Once you follow one of those links you are on someone else's site, and that site's privacy policy takes over. Read it before you hand over personal details.
Some advertising partners track activity across sites in order to aim ads. That tracking happens on their systems, not ours.
Who May Receive Your Data
We do not sell personal data. A limited set of parties may handle it along the way:
- The search partners that process queries you run here
- The analytics services that measure traffic and performance
- Ad networks that place ads on our pages
- Law enforcement or government bodies when a valid legal order requires it
How We Protect What We Collect
We use standard security practices to guard the data we hold. No site connected to the internet can promise perfect safety. We take reasonable steps, and we cannot guarantee that a breach will never happen.
Visitors Under 18
This site is written for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has sent us data, contact us and we will remove it.
Your Data Rights in Michigan
Michigan does not give every visitor a general right to demand deletion from a private website. The state's main records-access law, the Michigan Freedom of Information Act (1976 PA 442, MCL 15.231 et seq.), governs requests made to public bodies such as Lapeer County offices, including the Sheriff's Office and the county FOIA coordinator. Even so, you can always ask us to:
- Delete information you sent us
- Correct details that are wrong
- Send you a copy of what we hold
- Stop a particular kind of processing
Changes to This Policy
This policy may change over time. When it does, the revised version appears on this page with a new effective date. Come back if you want to keep track of how your information is handled.
